Miller Week 4 Total: 18+5 for pic= 23 pts

This was one of the toughest weeks in my life, because I restricted my food so severely, yet still forced myself to function normally.  Today was an especially terrible day for me, entirely devoted to hitting my run time.  I wasted an entire day for one stupid point.  That being said, I don't feel so bad about winning the contest anymore.  I am 100% sure that nobody wants this more than me.  Until you push yourself, as I pushed myself today, you do not know what you are capable of.  I learned that I have something special inside, and that I am not a quitter.  I guess it wasn't such a stupid point after all.  I am going to try to drop 4 lbs again this week.  160 by this Sunday. 158 (my proper BMI) by next Sunday.  On that day, two weeks from today, I will not be overweight for the first time in my entire life.  The thought of that brings on some pretty heavy emotions for me.

I know that I have been the driving force behind this contest, but without you guys, I would not have accomplished this, and I have not yet accomplished it, still.  Please, boys, help me do this.  Be positive, be motivational, post your stats, and read your buddies' posts.  This is something so important to me, I can't even think about it without tears coming to my eyes.  Thanks for bringing me this far, and please don't stop pushing now!

Miller's Week 3 Stats

Pull ups-- 33 (+3 reps) = 3 pts
Run-- 6:00!!! (-20 sec) = 20/10 =2 pts

Miller week 3 total 19 pts

I wish I could lose more weight, but my run time is really headed in the right direction.  I almost feel fast.  I'm going SUPER HARD this week, and my goal is to drop 5 lbs!!!

Miller's Week 2 Stats

Weight-- 171 (-2 lbs) = 2 lbs x 3 pts per lb + 1% total weight lost (@ 1 pt/1%) = 7 pts
Push ups-- 80 (+5 reps) = 5 reps / 2 + 5 pt bonus for 80 = 7 pts
Pull ups-- 30 (+5 reps) = 5 reps / 1 + 5 pt bonus for 30 = 10 pt
Run-- 6:20 (-20 secs) = 20 sec / 10 = 2 pts

Total improvement = 27 pts

My weight is still up from where it was mid week...bummer!  Alcohol will kill your diet!  Luckily I know it is mostly just water retention, and I will lose more this week!  Otherwise, I am extremely proud of my results.  I had the 80/30 numbers in my head all week, and I hit them, earning my 5 point bonuses! On both, I failed on the next rep.  Mind over matter, boyos. I should have thought about doing more!   I nearly killed myself on the run.  I threw down everything I had to keep the speed at 9.5 mph the entire time.  it should be a 6:18 mile, but the treadmill took a little time to amp up to that speed, so it came out at 6:20 exactly.   I now believe that by the end of this contest, I will accomplish running a mile in under 6 minutes...wicked awesome!

Miller's Original Stats Last Week

Weight-- 173 lbs
Push ups-- 75
Pull ups-- 25
Run-- 6:40

My numbers are too round to be made up!  I got 15 bonus points for pull ups (12, 18, 24), 5 for push ups (60), and 5 for the provacative pic.  I was going to give 5 bonus points to who ever posted first, but because its me, I'm not even going to bother!  Post your results below.

  2. All righty... well I am like the antichrist because my numbers are opposite of Millers. Well at least as opposite as they can get before breaking several laws of thermodynamics and perhaps entropy.

    Weight: 256

Pushups: 5 (I did 8 or maybe 9, but realized that I wasn't getting anywhere low enough)

Pullups: TBD ... working on a weight machine, but gotta hit the twofer with building up some more muscle AND losing weight

Run: I will claim that since I was watching MNF I wasn't concentrating, but that aint true. I will give myself 10mins, that could either be too little or too much time

I gots lot of work to do, but I did start regulating my diet a bit when this workout was first announced and, starting last night, truly delved into it.

Thanks Miller not only for talking on the phone, but getting this going. This competition is exactly the type of motivation needed!!

    1. Yo Guys,

Things are moving along quite well. From 1st to 2nd week stats:

      Weight: 256 to 248 (8 x 2 = 16 pts + 3%/1 = 19 pts)
      Pushups: 5 to 8 (REAL ones)+ 1 pt
      Pullups: 0 to 1.56785674321 (thus an infinite change, doesn't that mean I win? ;) ). +1 pt
      Running: 11:21 to 9:31

Notes- my running time has been varying WILDLY. I think that it is due to concentration and focus on a goal. When I just run, without any number in mind I hit about 11+. But when I said i MUST go under 10, then it IS under ten. Still, after that 9:31 I thought i was gonna die, I just gotta lose more weight and running will be easier. Anyway, for points (and I am not sure if Miller did this) but I think we should put my 1st week run time at 10mins. (Call it 10:01 and +3 pts)
      Total: 24 pts + 5 for the pic = 29 pts

I was bad on my diet this week as Saqi's Mom was in town the weekend and while I did my best, the fact that free and expensive food was readily available and I still was able to go down one more pound from Wednesday is due to Saqi making sure I didn't go crazy. I give thanks to her!

Ok, so my goals for 3rd week are:

      Weight: 240
      Pushups: 12
      Pullups: 2
      Run: 9:30

    2. D'ooh- Looks like i have been messing up in the way I have been calculating my pushup scores. I just read Alex's comment on the pushups and I missed the part that the pushup number is over 2 MINUTES... I have been doing it by how many in one continuous set. Hopefully that means better numbers next week!

    3. Boyos, unfortunately not as great an improvement this week. Back was hurting a bit because I had to take a lot of guitar pics. As those who've been with me doing a pic session in Burbank, y'all know of the bad back angles required for good pics.

Oddly enough, even though I feel lighter, and perhaps look it, my weight after working out tonight was at 241. Also, my running time just hasn't gone below 10mins. I'll blame the bad back, but with this week I hope to bring those number down more.

No excuses, but my back was pretty bad which really impacted my workout so I hope with the added rest I've accumulated that it will lead to real good numbers this week.

While I WAS for a longer contest, I like the shortened time now. It is a time frame in which it does not allow for slipups and provides for something within my reach in terms of time horizon.

For the points: while I want to win, I am not really looking at points so much anymore. Only goal for me is to lose weight and then building up can happen later. Perhaps that impacts my numbers, maybe not, but that weight number is most important to me.

Of course, the weight loss category is in my favor (I think) while the other stats are more difficult. That is good and seeing how much you guys can do is motivation for me: Cooke going down t 210, Spoons at 7min run (WOW), 85 pushups for WU (WTF), Millhouse at 33 pullups !!??!?!?... all motivation for me.

Ok, long day for me- stayed at office as Saqi is out of own all week. I'll get that shirtless pic of me on over.

      -tater tot

Here are the week 3 stats, best numbers recorded:

      Weight: 241; -7lbs and 3% = 17pts
      Pushups: 10; +2 = 1pt
      Pullups: 1; no increase :(
      Running: 10:15; slightly worse :((

    4. Still getting over my bad back- feel OK some days, really bad others... but usually goes away in a week or so! Still kept to the diet, as best I could (Vendor meetings and friends... makes it tough!), so some weight loss there.

Been a real long day today and pretty much so-so week. I thought that with now knowing I have 2 minutes on pushups it would make a difference... alas not a major one! Anyway, stats:

      Weight: 237; -4lbs, 2% = 10pts
      Pushups: 14 = 2pts
      Pullups: 1 = nada points
Running: didn't really run for time b/c of back

    6. I had a pretty good week. Back got up to 100% by Friday and while I was good about eating, on the running part was not. This week, being the final one gonna go crazy and see how low into the 220's I can go! Crazy!!

Oh, and this is BIG: got TWO M'fking pullups!!! I did one... then I hung for like 30 seconds and got it, then promptly fell. Good thing my behind is like falling on a vat of fat (which is prob close to the truth ;) ).

ALSO: got my running time down to 9:21, another big first AND for that major 25pt bonus... sweet!!!

I wonder if kinda having a week of relaxing was good, in that I came back 100%... dunno

I wanna win, and hoping I can make a run of it and catch up to miller by week end, so long as spoons doesn't make a run at the total! Good thing he is on my team!!!!

      Weight: 231: -6lbs, 2%= 14pts

  4. I put this up earlier, but looks like it didn't work. So here goes:

    Sri's stats:

Weight - 195.4 (BMI of 25.8. Unfortunately, just a shade outside normal BMI)

Pullups - 0 (Embarrassing. I tried doing one futilely for several minutes before giving up)

    Pushups - 14

    Mile - 8:22

Looks like zero points for me.

    1. Week 2 stats:

Weight - 193 (Still out of the normal BMI; I have to hit 189 for that, and I hope to do it by next week's scoring to get that normal BMI bonus)

      2 lbs x 3 = 6 + 2%/1 = 8 pts

      Pullups - 1 (barely, I think) 1/1 = 1 pt

Pushups - 15 (The first six or so felt easy compared to before, but then my arms gradually buckled. I think I need a new strategy)

Mile - 7:35 (I think this is the fastest I've ever run a mile. I threw everything I had into it and felt completely winded afterwards. I think the lost weight, plus a run, plus many walks with Soo and the dog helped a lot; maybe I had less food in me than last week too.) Call it 7:32, and + 5 pts

I really think it might be possible for me to get to a 7-minute mile, which I didn't think could be the case. I might be able to get down below 185 lbs. too.

I'm gonna focus on running and push-ups this week. I started taking protein supplements, which will hopefully help.

Pushups - 20 (definitely feeling better here. Aiming to hit 25-30 for next week) +3

  7. OMG you boys have your own weight watchers group. Advice from a pro: You how when you run into the ladies at the grocery store and they gush about how great you look, "so skinny." And then you see them a month later and they don't say anything about the way you look. You know it's because you put on weight. Then you go buy cookie dough and eat it to make yourself feel better. Well, those ladies don't actually care how much you weigh. They were just making conversation. So keep your heads held high sisters! XOXO Amanda Bacich
